Why would two people with the same charges have different pending hearings?

So two friends and I were driving to Boise and once we got into town we got pulled over by the cops. We pulled over and while we waited for the cop to come the driver pulled out drugs that I had no idea about and put them all under my seat. Well now we all have different court dates and what not so I want to know why we all have different pending hearings and all of that????!! Thanks I really need some answers!
