How to keep cicada/locust from attacking a person?

my husband is a logger. for the past week he has been attacked by cicada's when he starts his chainsaw. im sure it is the noise that attracts them but im wondering if there is some sort of repellant? he has already tried OFF and it does not work. can someone help...?
