Was my custody judge wrong or just goofy?

I went to four hearings and court before a judge once for custody of my two children. The father was trying for 50/50 custody of our 8 yr old and 6 month old and I wanted joint which was granted and I am satisfied with. He is still bringing me back and fighting for more. (he will not have to pay child support if he is granted shared) He is an alcoholic, addict, narrcissist, manipulator, user and has been using the kids to hurt me more. Everyday is a struggle to defend myself. The judge says we have petty issues and feels that us going to court spending money that we do not have is "goofy". He will not grant an evaluator or change the custody arrangement. He basically does not want to be bothered. We would not be in court spending the money if there were no real issues. Right?
